Stay on Track: Your Yearly Focus
Great outcomes start with strong coordination. Whether you’re a private school leader or an LEA (Local Education Agency) partner, here’s what to focus on together throughout the year.
Summer School, Spring Break Camps &
Learning Bags
Private school leaders and LEA partners may need time together to revise the Title I grant to allow for summer school, Learning Bags, or a spring break camp if it wasn’t part of the original needs assessment during consultation.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Propose summer school or a spring break camp using unspent Title funding.
LEA partners: Confirm the timeline for revising the Title I plan with your private school partners.
Consultation Season
This is when LEA partners reach out to private schools to solicit their intent to participate in federal programs for the following year, and to consult together on program design and services.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Opt in for all available services. Visit the district website for resources.
LEA partners: Reach out to schedule consultation if you haven’t yet connected with your private school partners.

Title Spend-Down Planning
If services weren’t delivered as planned, or additional funding is available due to carry-over, private school leaders, LEA partners, and providers can work together to put remaining Title funds to good use.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Adjust schedules to increase services as the year winds down. Confirm your summer school plan is in place.
LEA partners: Check in on remaining balances and help identify where added services would have the most impact.
Confirm Student Data with Your LEA
LEA partners may request a list of student addresses or data to determine eligibility, along with a needs assessment that informs service choices for students and teachers.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Confirm services can begin as early as day one of school. Get support completing your needs assessment.
LEA partners: Share data requests and needs assessment timelines early to keep planning on track.
Carry-Over Funds
Private school leaders and LEA partners should work together to determine if any funds carried over from the prior school year. Carry-over funds must be spent before using the current year’s allocation.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Confirm any carry-over balance with your LEA partner.
LEA partners: Communicate carry-over amounts clearly so funds are spent within the year they’re obligated.
Child Find
LEA partners share their Child Find process during this time — the process used to evaluate a private school student suspected of having a disability, on the same timeline as public school students.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Confirm your LEA partner has shared its Child Find timeline. Reach out with questions about the evaluation process.
LEA partners: Proactively share the Child Find timeline and process with your private school partners.
Mid-Year Check-In
This is a natural point to pause with your LEA partner and confirm that services are on track — reviewing what’s been delivered so far, updating documentation, and flagging any adjustments needed before the second half of the year.
What to do now
Private school leaders: Review services delivered to date against your agreed plan. Confirm attendance and progress records are current.
LEA partners: Check in on service delivery and documentation (e.g., time and effort logs) with your private school partners. Note any needed timeline or budget adjustments together.
“Some places just give you a service and they walk away and that is not the case with Catapult Learning. They walk along side you through the entire school year.”
